Variations on a Theme Square #2

Square #2
Row 1: Ch 32, sc in second ch from hook, * skip next 2 ch, (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch--shell made, skip next 2 ch, sc in next ch; repeat from * across, turn.

Row 2: Ch 5 (counts as dc and ch 2), sc in center dc of first shell, ch 2, dc in next sc, (ch 2, sc in center dc of next shell, ch 2, dc in next sc) across, turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first dc, (shell in next sc, sc in next dc) across, turn.

Rows 4-16 or until piece is square, or almost square: Repeat rows 2-3, ending with row 2.

At end of last row, fasten off.

To make this stitch pattern any size, begin with ch multiple of 6 plus 2.

  3. I am loving this! I started out thinking I would do two different afghans at the same time but ended up doing four! lol. The patterns are so quick and easy and beautiful. Can't wait to finish!

  4. I have also thought of doing more than one afghan at a time! After Christmas I started my first scrap afghan from an old pattern in my collection. My New Year's resolution was to clear out my stash before buying any more yarn this year. So, thanks to Carolyn for helping me in my goal!

  10. Love this square too! Showed both squares to my DH and he said - oh they look the same. I tried to explain the differences and well - what's the point? I love this CAL! Keep up the great work. Waiting with bated breath for number 3.

  11. Any idea on how many squares there will be? I'm using them to make a throw for the end of my queen-sized bed. Wonder if I should start on some duplicate squares to use to make a nice big afgan. (That would help me wait for #3 too!)
